Torjuttavat taudit

Rokotusten avulla luodaan suojaa tartuntatauteja vastaan. Monet näistä taudeista on saatu jo hävitettyä Suomesta kokonaan ja ne ovat käyneet maailmallakin harvinaisemmiksi rokotusten ansiosta.

Chikungunya

The Chikungunya virus causes a tropical fever that is primarily spread by mosquitoes. Symptoms usually begin 3–7 days after infection and typically include a rapid onset of fever, severe joint pain, muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue, and rash. The acute phase of the disease lasts about a week, but joint pain can persist for several months. The disease is mainly found in Africa, Northeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. The vaccine is not part of the national vaccination program, but it can be obtained with a prescription from a pharmacy or medical clinic.
