Several diseases caused by the Haemophilus influenzae bacteria, such as meningitis, epiglottitis, pneumonia and sepsis. The diseases are spread primarily via respiratory droplets. There are six encapsulated forms of H. influenzae bacteria as well as non-encapsulated forms that mainly causes otitis media and sinusitis. The Hib vaccine against H. influenzae type B is part of the National Immunisation Programme.
