The need for reliable information on medicines is greater than ever before. The package leaflets available in the Lääkeinfo.fi service are official and approved by medicines authorities and they are for medicinal products sold in Finland. The service has been available to the public for nearly 20 years and receives around 10 million visits annually. The renewed Lääkeinfo.fi service was launched on 22 October 2025.
Lääkeinfo.fi has been completely modernised, both in appearance and functionality. The objective of the renewal is to improve usability and accessibility. The redesign has been guided by user feedback, needs and ideas collected from, among others, patient organisations as well as directly from patients and citizens. New features include risk minimisation materials for patients and the ability to search by the active ingredient of the medicine.
“Lääkeinfo.fi receives around ten million visits every year, with users searching for information about different medicines. This places high demands on the service to ensure that users from diverse backgrounds can easily find the medical information they need,” says Tiia Metiäinen, Information Services Manager at Pharmaca.

“The service has been tested at various stages of development, and feedback has been collected from patients, citizens and patient organisations. The service has been particularly praised for its clarity and ease of use. The need for reliable medicine information is greater today than ever before. Many of those who tested the new service commented that it is much easier to use than paper package leaflets – for example, information about side effects is easy to find, and images in the instructions are clearly visible.”
