International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis
Many countries require a yellow fever vaccination certificate on arrival. People who receive the vaccination are given the WHO International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, also known as the Yellow Card.
- The certificate must be presented at immigration. Visitors may be denied entry if they do not have the card or if their vaccination is not up to date.
- Health guide for travellers (in Finnish) includes up-to-date information on which countries require the certificate.
- The vaccination is often required of people who are coming from or entering a country where yellow fever is endemic. In some cases, the certificate is required even if the person arriving has only had a short stopover in a country where yellow fever is endemic. Some countries require all visitors to present the certificate.
- Immigration officers may also require certification of other vaccinations, such as polio and meningococcal vaccines. Up-to-date information on vaccinations required by destination countries is available in the Health guide for travellers (in Finnish), which includes a list of the required vaccinations by country.
- The WHO vaccination card can also be used to keep track of other vaccinations. The vaccination information will be available in MyKanta Pages in electronic form as vaccines are given. The professional who gave the vaccine registers the vaccine to the service where the given vaccines are summarized. Many people can already find an electronic vaccination card in MyKanta Pages.
