Corona virus COVID-19
Free booster doses of the coronavirus vaccine will be offered during the fall of 2024 to elderly people in nursing homes or regularly organized home care, to people of all ages with severe immunodeficiency, to everyone aged 65 and over, and to individuals aged 18 and over who belong to risk groups. Additionally, a primary series of one vaccine dose is recommended for previously unvaccinated individuals aged 18 and over, as well as for those aged 12-17 who belong to risk groups.
The COVID-19 disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2-virus. It causes respiratory infections that range from almost asymptomatic disease to severe forms that require hospitalization and even intensive care. The risk of severe disease is increased by old age and multiple concurrent underlying conditions. Vaccination protects especially against severe forms of the coronavirus disease.
